1. let’s say I as a job seeker get my google custom search engine to point to and search on:

- careers.companyx.com sites
- jobs.companyx.com sites
- companyx.jobs sites
- companyx.com/jobs
- etc. you get my drift

obviously you can hone in regions, ngo’s, edu and gov sites, if so inclined

2. let’s say i can create an rss alert for changes on the searched sites (‘developer’)

How does this impact the aggregators’ value proposition (say vertical search engines) to the job seeker, once employers utilise their career sites more effectively?

At present google doesn’t search the hidden web, it only indexes static content. A vertical search engine on the other hand will locate and submit search forms to reveal dynamic content which is aggreated / structured to provide the user with a better search experience.

    Mr/Ms A
Have not rubbernecked behind google to understand its indexing nuances, so will take your word for it. in any case:

    - as you said this might be happening ‘at present’ dunno about next quarter
    - am unsure about cse ‘picking up only static content’; only reason is i was testing a saved search to get jobs from the boards in Oz and the results showed what i would call dynamic results as in extracted from the current jobs dbase (this was for mycareer btw)
    - would love to see the search of the deeper web translate into more relevance and better experience; i don’t think data depth automatically warrants it though

    cheers
    j
